Snowy Range Ski Patrol
Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
OEC 2005 Course Information
|Welcome to the Fall 2005 Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC)
Course Website for the Snowy Range and Medicine Bow Nordic ski patrols. If you are
interested in becoming a patroller, here's how to get started:
- Get to know the patrols a little bit (one-page FAQs for the Snowy Range Alpine Ski Patrol
and Medicine Bow Nordic Ski
Patrol, and the National Ski Patrol website).
- Review the Daily Schedule for
the OEC Course. Completion of OEC is the essential first step for a ski patrol candidate.
Note that you will be committing a large amount of formal coursework time to this effort.
ATTENDANCE AT ALL SESSIONS IS MANDATORY. We guarantee the time will be well spent!
- Review the Individual Approximated
Anticipated Costs for the OEC Course. These costs include registration fees as well as
text and first-aid materials for the course. Each candidate is responsible for covering
all costs. NOTE: costs for volunteer ski patrolling get a lot cheaper after OEC. ALSO
NOTE: your instructors are all volunteers. They've all been in your shoes, and they will
strive to make this the best experience possible.
- Complete the OEC Candidate Application Questionnaire (in either Word or PDF format) and
email or USmail to the recipient noted on the form.
- Plan to attend the Intro to Patrol and Interview Meeting, Monday,
September 12, drop-in anytime 6-8pm, Laramie Fire Department Substation #2 Public Meeting
Room, located at 1558 N. 23rd Street. You will be contacted soon after this meeting
regarding the opportunity for continuation with the OEC Course.
